Our Worship

Our Worship

Worship is the most essential ministry of North Hills Church.

Should be God-Centered, primarily vertical with an audience of One. We also acknowledge the horizontal (our relationships with fellow worshipers) and the corporate nature of worship.

Characterized by the Ordinary Means of Grace appointed by God for the conversion, sanctification, and preservation of His people.  These are to include:
•  Preaching and Prayer
•  Reading of Scripture
•  Sacraments of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper (or Communion)

Should be a reverent but joyous celebration.

Is structured and orderly with content guarded by the Scripture.  Elements of our Morning Worship Service typically include:

•  Call to Worship
•  Hymns and Songs of Praise
•  Corporate Greeting
•  Corporate Confession of Sin & Words of Assurance
•  Hymn or Song of Gratitude
•  Pastoral Prayer (led by Pastors) or Prayers for the Church (led by Ruling Elders)
•  Giving of Tithes and Offerings as an act of worship with prayer of thanksgving led by a Deacon
•  Hymn of Preparation
•  Reading of Scripture and Preaching of God’s Word (primarily expository in nature)
•  Sacrament of Communion is observed on the first Sunday of every month
•  Hymn Of Commission
•  Benediction

Morning and Evening public worship provide “bookends” to the Sabbath Day and members are encouraged to spend the day:

•  Physically resting
•  Fellowshipping with others in the church
•  Visiting the sick and elderly
•  As a family day, with family and Bible and other related reading

Nursery is provided for children 4 and under during our worship service.

For children age 4-1st grade, there is a “Children’s Worship” that takes place during the sermon.
